No power going to Washing Machine

Our washing machine is just over a year old. Last weekend when I turned it on, it tripped the switch. I fixed this and went to go ahead with the wash but now when I plug in the machine there is no standby light and it won't start.

We thought it might be the socket but this is fine. We then thought the fuse might have blown in the plug so we put in a new one and still nothing.

The Fridge and washing machine are on the same switch and the fridge is working perfectly. Any views welcome.

Sounds like it`s the washing machine is faulty. You could try plugging it into an extension lead connected to another socket which you know is ok, but it does look like the machine has a short circuit in it if it is blowing your trip switch. If this does work just check the trip switch itself as these can go faulty too (easily replaced).
