Hi a friend of mine is up in court on Tomorrow for not having any tax on her car. apparently the garda saw her car on 27-08-2007. she lives in Italy for half the year and was home for that weekend. No letter was sent to her mothers house and the first she heard of it was when a garda called to her house 3 months ago with a summons to go to court. her mother is 73 and it frightened the life out of her.

anyway she is up tomorrow and can someone please tell me what she should expect. she am very anxious. how much of a fine will she have to pay? should she bring cash with on the day to pay there and then or do spay it to the garda station?

thank you

Whether or not a letter issues or gets lost in the post or whatever, a person is responsible for the taxation of their vehicle. Thats why there is a tax disc on the window. The date it expires is clearly plain to see. Simple.
