No income tax paid, can I claim for medical expenses?

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before:

I returned from a year abroad in August 2007 and am still looking for the perfect job. Can I still use form Med1 to claim back expenses incurred during 2007 despite not having paid any income tax? I would typically be a PAYE worker.

On a similar vein, if someone has no other income during a given year, does this impact in any way the CGT they may pay at the end of the year?
 
I dont think you can claim tax relief if you haven't paid any tax in that year.

CGT and income tax are 2 seperate taxes. If someone has no income thay can still be liable to CGT.
