No-Funderland: Cork 'Near Miss'

I was there with my nephew when it happened. I didn't see the cog fly off the axel but I saw the people coming off the ride covered in oil and some of them were in major distress. The staff appeared not to know what to do. The cog was lying on a piece of the equipment and it was so big and heavy I can't believe it didn't hit someone. If it did, there would have been carnage.
I read the quote on the paper yesterday from a Funderland spokesman and his description of a "minor incident" was laughable...

Mechanical malfunction - no people hurt. Must be a slow news day in Cork. Or maybe not much happens down there at the best of times?

Must have been a slow day on the boards when all you can do is come up with a sarcastic reply to a question asked?
Normally ClubMan your more inventive than that.
