Hi

2005 Interstar van driving fine for months, then today I came to the van, pressed the clutch pedal and it remained on the floor. I can pull it back up by hand. It stays either up or down.

I can't put the van in gear even with the pedal down as I can feel that the engine is engaged all the time, and if I push the gear lever all the way into gear the van will jump forward and cut out. I know this from pushing the gear lever as if I'm going into second, ... but the van rocks a little and the engine noise changes.

No signs of leaks, but it was raining so hard to tell. There is fluid, between the low-high marks, in a resevoir, under the bonnet... there's a 12mm rubber tube coming from this resevoir going to the back of the clutch pedal, and also a 4mm steel pipe coming from the clutch pedal and going to the right. All this is under the bonnet.

could this be a leak?

Is this a master cyclinder or something?

Could a flexi hose have been damaged? (Simple and cheap solution that worked on binding brakes.. and saved 100's on calipers and pads and such...)

Estimated cost?

Thanks for any help. Wicklow area.

I had those symptoms on a 2005 VW Transporter. The bad news was a new clutch and dual mass flywheel. The worse news was the €1600 bill!
