Nissan Almera - central locking problem

The central locking on my Nissan Almera has stopped working. I actually thought it was the battery in my keys, but I've tried the spare keys which have been seldom used and it still doesnt work.

Any ideas/solutions?
 
Hi I’m not trying to be smart but if a battery is left for a while it loses it's charge maybe you should replace the old battery and hope this cheap option works before bringing it to a garage
 
Had a 01 almera saloon couple of years back with exact same problem, mechanic could not fix with suggested fix from dealer
 
I had a similar problem with a 03 saloon few months ago. I wiped around all door edges thoroughly and bingo it worked! might be worth a try.
