I've got the Nikon D70S & can't seem to disable the flash. I've got the manual but can't figure out how it works. The way I do it at the moment is physically leave my finger over the flash so that it doesn't automatically pop up. I'm presuming that's not good for the camera.

Hiya. I have a D70 and know what you mean. I put it on Program instead of Auto and this seems to work. Have you tried www.dpreview.com - great site.

There is a button (flash) towards the front of the camera on the same level as the "mode control" wheel button, it is over the button to release the lens. You need to keep this (flash button) pressed while you rotate the main control dial wheel (at the back just below the control panel LCD), keep an eye on the control panel and you'll see various falsh symbols - the one with the flash symbol inside a circle is the one that disables the flash.

PM me if you need more detail.
