nice place for an overnight stop between mallow and donegal

Hi we will be driving from Mallow to Donegal next week and would like to break the journey. Can I get any recommendation on a nice town or village with a few pubs and a place to eat or a nice b&b in secnic location. I was thinking somewhere in the Glaway or Mayo area. Thanks in advance

Perhaps Cong - between lough corrib & lough mask. - It would mean taking a detour up the N84 through ballinrobe rather then the N17.

Nice little village great scenary around plenty of accom. still living off the legend of "the quiet man" being filmed there. Even more scenary if you want to take a little drive further west to clonbur & cornamona etc.

All in all it's probably will add an extra 25 miles to your journey.

I haven't stayed here but have eaten and had a few drinks there and it is lovely. Bit of your track but might be along the lines of what your looking for.
