NIB, who have closed branches in 2/3 phases, ended free banking, cut high interest deposit accounts, removed ATMs, gone cash free, gone cheque free and made astronomical losses looked like there were gradually heading for the exit door. Apparently not.
NIB are to rebrand as Danske Bank and conduct a good/bad bank split with property loans going into the ´bad bank´. Also, they are going to push the use of their Android/iPhone App.
Good to see, from a competition perspective, that one of Irelands 5 clearing banks is apparently staying put.
Mr Borgen stressed the "key message" from Danske was "we remain committed to Ireland". He said putting the Danske name over the door was a sign of their commitment because they would not "risk" the Danske brand if they were planning a withdrawal.
