NIB Chip & PIN Card

Got a letter from NIB enclosing a new Laser/ATM card and informing me that it will only be valid for 12 months as they are introducing Chip&PIN cards next year. Accordingly they will only charge me €3 for the card.

My problem is that my existing card does not expire until end July 05 and the new card expires at end October 05. In other words they are charging me €3 for 3 months. This is equivalent to €24 for a two year card. [I believe this has happened because a replacement card was issued a couple of years ago and the computer has the old expiry date on file.]
The nice lady at the branch did not know much but is checking it out.

Has anyone else got these and what is the expiry dates of existing and new card?

> Do insurers need doctor's questionnaires

Is this in respect of NIB charges or stamp duty? I thought that most or all NIB accounts (in particular FreeBank) didn't levy such charges? Chip and & replacement cards should not attract additional stamp duty charges:

Think you might be mixing up your posts! Re the NIB card, I unserstood this was a standard fee that is charged every time they renew the Laser/ATM card, €6 for two years.

Yeah - sorry about that rogue quote! If the charge is an NIB one then you should query it with them if you think that they are not applying it on the correct pro-rata basis for a shorter than normal renewal period.
