My beloved partner is dying at the moment and we are together 10 years but never legally separated thought both married. He has named ne as his next of kin and I am wondering if that is ok.

Next of kin for what?

Medical decisions? Inheritance?

Doctors will generally deal with the person who is most obviously the primary care giver - unless a spouse intervenes.

On inheritance, you will be treated as strangers and not as marrieds.

Sorry for not explaining properly. As regards medical decisions. I know that Inheritance is different, but if my partner wills me money am I then entitled to receive it. Thanks

Yes. But.

His wife is entitled to a share of his estate and could contest any will which does not provide for her. I appreciate that this is a very difficult time but your partner probably should be talking to a solicitor. One possibility is to put monies into a joint account with the express intention of benefitting you. Monies in a joint account are not included in an estate.

Also, there may be tax liabilities for you depending on the amount.
