Can anyone point me in the direction of a definitive answer on where exactly a wedding can and can't take place? I want to get married in my house, I gather this is not an option but can't find a real answer anywhere. I should specify that I am talking about the civil ceremony part...I'm sure no one is going to stop me throwing a wedding in my own house!

Thanks

has to be a place that the public have access to, in theory i believe anyone is entitled to be at your wedding

Thanks Card & Nige, thats a big fat no then to getting married at home. Will have to think on.

The general rules are it must be a fixed permanent (ie not a marquee) public builing and no food or drink can be served in the vicinity of the service.

Just out of curiosity, why is it the HSE that look after this area? I rememebr reading about the first couple to avail of the changes and how the HSE had granted them permission to have the wedding...seems odd.
