my friend bought a new washing machine in july 08 and it broke 6months later, she called the store and they said they would not replace it but would sent out an engineer to fix it , the engineer said it was the motor and he would have to order parts. Does my friend not have the right to have the washing machine replaced for a new one.
No. She has a right to a repair, replacement or refund in that order. If the repair doesn't work, she may be entitled to a new machine. Unless there's an extraordinarily long delay, there is not yet a justification for a new machine.
