If you click the New Posts Button - you will see only the New Posts which you have not read.

However, just above the first post you will see "Unread Posts" . Click on this to remove the unread filter which will allow you see all posts.

On mobile it's a bit different.
When you go to 'new' there are 2 options:
New posts - only shows unread
What's new - shows recent posts.

Or Click on What's New gives you
What's New - which is new posts whether read or not
New Posts seems to be Posts you have not read.

Brendan

I'd get rid of the "What's new" tab and just put the "Recent Posts" and "New posts" links (who knows why posts is capitalised in one and not the other) under the "Forums" tab.

OK, that has all been changed now.

We have got rid fo the What's New tab and put links directly to the New Posts and Unread Posts.

Don't think New Posts is working as expected.

If I click "Mark forums read", then click "unread posts" (see below), then it displays "nothing", as all has been "read" so to speak, so that is correct.

If I then click "New Posts", I get a number of pages of "New Posts":

I would assume that "New Posts" would be new posts since I last viewed ?

New Posts just shows 10 pages of the latest posts in sequence from the most recent. Just 'cause you read it doesn't make it old

Yes, agree there Leo, but "New Posts" button from, lets say, the main / home page (on right hand side), has the filter "unread" embedded when you choose that one, but the "new posts" menu option on the left hand side, doesn't use the filter - so when is a "new post" actually a "new post" and not just a "new post"

Ah, I get you. So choosing the New Posts on the left hand side you then need to apply the filter so it's inconsistent.

We could get rid of the new posts on the RHS , but that is important for mobile users - it just appears as a flash.

I don't know if it's possible to get rid of it for PC users but leave it for mobiles.

Is it that big an issue?

I have never marked forums read and I am not sure why people do.

I can't live without the 'New Posts' ... I read all new posts that interest me and it's the only way I can filter them to see what's new since I last visited.

I then 'Mark Forums Read' so I can see what's new the next time I visit.

Now the 'Mark Forums Read' is gone from the top tab and it's almost impossible to find. It appears at the top of individual threads but not at the top of the list of 'New Posts', which is when I want to clear all.

I don't know where it was, as I never used it.

But is it not now at the top of each page on the far right hand side?

Here is the list of New Posts -

And on the Forums Page itself

And on every thread

If we just apply the same criteria to both "new posts" buttons - that would resolve it. Alternatively, it's something I can live with

I am not sure that I see the problem here. So let me try to figure it out.

This is what you see on a PC

You should ignore the on the right hand side when you are on your PC.

On the top third register down, you can choose
New Posts which is all New Posts whether you have read them or not.
or
Unread Posts which excludes what you have already read.

The New Posts on the Right hand side is actually "Unread Posts". But removing the filter will give you all new posts.

This is what it looks like on my phone

Because there is less space, the only option you get is for "New Posts" which is actually New Posts and includes the ones you have already read.

I don't know why the same button is showing different things on the PC and the phone.

I don't use my phone for checking askaboutmoney often. For those whose primary access is via their phone, what do you want this button to show?

As PC users have the luxury of separate New Posts and Unread Posts buttons, let the phone users decide what they want.
