Hi, just looking for opinions on the following: my employer claims that the work in my current area has effectively dried out and that they would "propose" something else to me. I suspect they are preparing a new job description, and possibly a new job title, and will want me to say "yes" to whatever is available there to do (no challenges), or the benchmark will be set so high that I will eventually fail (too much challenge).
I was wondering what my rights in this situation are? If I say "no", they obviously will have to make me redundant...? Will the contract of employment be considered as terminated by myself then?.... I understand that their effectively admitting that the work in my current area had dried up means I am no longer needed, so I just wish they would let me go instead of playing this little game... and perhaps just setting the scene for me to find after a couple of months that I cannot manage new responsibilities and leave on my own accord.....
Don't really know what to think.... The meeting with a "proposal" is due very soon, so I just want to feel a bit more self-assured about the whole situation. Thanks for opinions.
