In the UK where unemployment is 2 million on the BBC news said that the new growth in new jobs is with the caring for elderly people in their homes. Carers gets between 7 - 9 pounds ph. there is about 40,000 people in Ireland with dementia and at least some people with get some benefit from the recession. It is only going to increase and provision should be made for them by way of help with care home - I do mean a place where people are locked up 24/7 teatement should be a place similar to their own lives that they had before entering a care home.
I am sure there is a lot of care homes in Ireland that could do with more staff for the care of elderly people with dementia and disable people, why not have more people employed there but first they must be trained on how to talk to people with dementia, which is lamentable at present in Ireland.
