Re: Cash discounts?
I got a 3% discount from Power city on a multiple purchase. It didn't make any difference whether I paid by cash, cheque or credit card. I tried to haggle further by offering cash rather than credit card but it didn't seem to make any difference. I managed to get a small concession of paying 30 euro delivery for 6 items ( I'm outside the greater dublin area). I paid a small deposit when I ordered the appliances and the balance the week of delivery.
My advise would be to do your research before you go shopping. Most manufacturers have excellent websites. Select the appliances based on the features you desire and then compare prices across a few retailers. There really is too much choice and several different brands are made by the same companies. You may find that different retailers are more competitive on different appliances/ brands and you can mix and match between retailers. If you need advise from a salesperson, i would advise you to go to the stores at off peak times.
