New fireplace - removal of current gas fire

I'm a complete novice, so I need some very basic advice!

I have a fireplace, which I am going to replace. My current fire is gas, which I am keeping. However, the installer said that I will need to remove the current gas fire before installation and re-fit it after.

Is this a job I can undertake, or do I need to get a bord gais engineer out? They've already taken enough from me this year, so I'd prefer not to give them any more!!

Cheers...

I think that for safety, it's better to get an expert to remove/refit the fire. I replaced a fireplace a couple of years ago, and phoned a local plumber who dealt with gas installations to do the work - he took the fire out, and put it back in once the fireplace was finished.
Plumbers who deal with gas installations/services usually state this in their adverts so you should find one without having to go to Bord Gais directly.
