Certain components may do but the index approach may have merit in reducing the overall risk of not picking a turkey!
Ultra small caps many of which could run out of cash and also are very much dependent on local/international fiscal policy. Coupled with this would be the risk that some of the technology may be new and could fail the test of time.
So a number of real risks but for overall diversification may have merit and seems a sector that is in a tailwind.
Would be interesting to know how many of these are profitable with free cashflow coupled with their gearing levels?

Unfortunately if you look at the history of "the next big thing" investors have tended to lose their shirts. I can't remember the exact quote, but Buffet once said something along the lines of "if he could have been there when the Wright brothers made their maiden flight, his greatest gift to capitalism would have been to shoot them".

hmmm you raise a very valid point.
In fact when you look back new etfs are frequently formed at the end of a bull run eg HHH internet holdrs etc, in order to satisfy the greed of the private investor.
That said think this one warrants further research.

BTW this is only an index, you still need some provider to create an ETF (or whatever) based on it.
