New ESB a/c number - impact for online banking?

Since the ESB recently allocated new account numbers to customers does anybody know if this means that an ESB account configured for payment via online banking (based on the old ESB a/c number) needs to be replaced/updated with the new a/c number? Thanks.

Oh - just got onto PTSB Open24 and they were familiar with the issue and updated my records with the new a/c number. Case closed I guess.

Hi Clubman.
Yes, I've had the same issue. You have to contact your internet banking people and change the old ESB a/c number to the new one. If you have already made a payment using the old a/c number, don't worry, it will still go through.

Thanks. I was making cheque payments for the last couple of bills because I wasn't sure and didn't want the payments to get lost (!) and only got around to sorting it out today. As I mentioned above the Open24 person sorted it out for me just now.

The ESB did an Eircom on it in Feb and got one of those voice recognition systems in to stop angry persons such as I from chewing their ears off.

My full story on the ESB and their illegal free credit binge is here (Feb 05)

Thanks. It wasn't much hassle for me in the end. Thankfully I noticed the change so paid by cheque for a couple of bills in case payments got lost and until I contacted PTSB to sort out the online part. Once I did that last night it went fine. I didn't find the whole process that much hassle.
