New employer doesn't accept previous employer's pension

Please advise - much appreciated.

I worked in Dublin for 7 years until recently.

I have taken up new employment in Belfast but my new employer doesn't accept pensions from previous employers. This is their policy. Its nothing to do with the fact that my previous employer is outside the UK.

My dilemma therefore is whether to leave my pension in Ireland and collect on retirement or whether I should transfer it to a PRSA type account with my bank in Belfast.
What make financial sense?
I don't have a great understanding of pensions.

Do you think that you will retire in Belfast or will you come back to Republic in future?

Then if you leave the old pension in Ireland you will carry a currecny risk (it being invested in €)...can you get a good deal on the transfer to the product in NI?
