Hi all,
I am taking on someone part time, 100 euro a week, just to do some book keeping and maybe some tidying up. She wont have to pay and PAYE or PRSI, but ill have to make a PRSI contribution, is this correct?.
I have received fromn the tax office, a TAX regitration form TR2, and i also received a FORM 12A. Once i fill this up and get her to enter details on TR2, can i start paying her PRSI contributions. can i pay them in arrears??. I am working from a limited company setup.

Many thanks

Tomas

You most likely have an employer number already, probably the same as your VAT, as you are an employee as a director

Go to [broken link removed] and hit on contact locator on the left hand side

Type in your VAT number and hit enter and the next screen will have a drop down window listing all tax registrations under that registration number

If you have an e,ployer number already it will have PAYE/PRSI as an option

If you are not already registered as an employer, then you will complete the TR2 and the employee will complete the 12A

You should be already set up as an employer for yourself and the other director(s), so I don't see the need for the TR2. AFAIK revenue automatically register all companies as employers, if only to employ the directors. The employee completes the Form 12A and you complete your details on it.

I thought as much. i did not understand why i was filling out a TR2.

"AFAIK revenue automatically register all companies as employers"

Is this correct? I think I came across a company recently which did not have a tax number, it was a property investment company, and was'nt registered for VAT and had no employees, I would be interested to know if this is possible, I contacted the revenue about a week ago, but have yet to hear anything back, time for a follow up I think!

It is possible to not have either a VAT or PAYE/PRSI number

A corporation tax number is the only number required for a property investment co, with no employees or long term lettings

But it will only have a CT no is it has applied for one, forming a company does not autmatically mean you are registerd with Revenue

Glenbhoy,
If you want to find out more info about a company goto www.cro.ie and use the search facility

She wont have to pay any PAYE or PRSI, but I wil have to make a PRSI contribution, is this correct?.. So If I pay 100 Euro a week. for a few hours work, i think pay a prsi contribution of 10.75 percent on 100 euro, even though shes part time?.

The PRSI rate for employers is 8.5% for wages up to 356 per week. Then it is 10.75%, so to pay her 100 per week, would cost you 8.50.
