My boyfriend got a cheque for tax back in may of last year but was unable to open a bank account for different reasons from various banks would the cheque be out of date now and would it be possible for him to get a new one issued that didnt say account payee only, if he returned the original?
Thanks for all and any help you guys can give :)

Cheques go out of date after 6 months, so it's likely that the revenue cheque is out of date.

I doubt that Revenue issue cheques that aren't marked "a/c payee" only, but I suppose it's worth asking.

Perhaps Revenue would consider making the cheque out to you (or someone else) instead? If your boyfriend writes a letter explaining that he doesn't have a bank account and nominates another person, it should be okay. But I would phone the Revenue office first just to check. Also, if he returns the cheque, they might be able to replace it.

should not be a problem - especially when he has the physical cheque.

If it went missing - I'd say you'd have to wait a while.

After my 1 year old found my two revenue cheques and decide to eat/rip them up, the revenue (after a good laugh) re-issued them after 2 weeks
