new car security?

Do all new cars come equipped with immobilisers? If so is an alarm still needed as well or what other preventive measures are worth investing in to protect them thanks

A proper immobiliser will prevent the car being driven away, without the keys. I think all new cars have them.

Modern thieves break into houses and get the keys however!

Alarms are a bit of a waste of time imho. They make a racket and we all ignore them.

Thanks for that. Are some immobilisers better than others then and how do they actually work? Had previous two cars stolen so getting a bit neurotic now!
