new build, bargains in the north and vat ?

hi all, been talking to a guy lately that said he bought a tv very cheap in the north last year by producing a buddies vat no,

no say for instance i go up there with my mates vat no, and i buy a stove, doors, skirting etc, and all my electrical applinaces for a new house will it be worth it,, prob is straight away with the lower vat rate, but how legal so to speak is this 'option ' of using anothers vat no?

what are the implications?

anyone know any good .CO.UK websites for builders providers in the north?

What do you think yourself?

Well maybe if you were to purchase the goods from a Company that deliver they should exclude VAT charged as its technically a sale 'for export' ...but the delivery charge may obliterate any savings anyway.

Well, in a nutshell, misuse of VAT numbers is fraud and a criminal offence. Avoid like the plague.
