Does anyone have a rough idea what it might cost to have a RGI Elec/plumber install a new bog standard gas boiler clock? Say a CTC 1, 2 or 3....

Very hard to say without some more info.

Is the wiring in situ ?
If not, is there much of a 'run' between boiler and timer location.

Are there zones involved, if so how many?
Are these motorized valves already wired.
Even the 'bog standard' timers have hot water/heat selection.

Just a replacement of 10 year old timer clock, no zones, no valves, sits under the Boiler, I will get a pic of it, Thx

Ah right, depending on how far he/she had to travel, I would expect €80 - €120 labour.

About 3 Kilometres in D15..........................got a quote for 190 for CTC 1 which is €52 inc 23% Vat retail. He must get it for around €30 Trade, so 130-150 max would be fair, I would have thought. Do I need to get a Cert for this. I only use Registered Tradesmen.

God that timer is older than me !!
I honestly didn't think anybody was using these old analogue 'restrictive' timers anymore.
I would advise that it is high time you went digital, I have linked to one for £25 on Amazon.
It offers 24Hr/ 5+2 day/ 7day timer, what that means is that you can have the same settings every day or same Mon-Fri and different at the W/E
or different every day. It also offers a 1Hr boost and an 'advance' option and auto summer/winter time.
Plus it it simple to set-up and use. One you get used to it you'll wonder how you managed with the old restrictive one.
And another bonus, it's cheaper.
