My wife has just started a new job. Salery is 28k. Gross monthly pay is €2333.Her monthly tax credit is 237.50. We are assessed seperatly. What should her monthly tax and prsi be? Her employers have it calculated at paye €466.60 and prsi as €117.98. Are these figures correct?

Why are you assessed separately? Joint/aggregated assessment is normally the most beneficial for married couples especially if one is on 42% and the other is on 20%.

Is [broken link removed] of any use? It yields PRSI of €117.98 and tax of €229.17.

What is the breakdown of her tax credits as detailed on her statement of tax credits? Was she working/earning in another job up to now and thus using up some of her annual tax credits and allowances?

Your wifes employers has not deducted the tax credits to give the net tax position.
Check that you havn't missed it.
Just to explain to you the calc

Annual Salary 28,000
Monthly salary 2333 @ 20% 466.60
Tax Credits 237.50
Net Tax 229.10

(You will have to excuse the formatting. It doesn't work in AAM)

Thanks for help. Breakdown of tax credits is : Marrige tax credit 1580, paye tax credit 1270. Should she just contact local tax office to rectify the problem.
