Negotiating Redundancy

I will be notified of Redundancy next week together with about 10 people where I work - office of 22.

I'm told we must form a Workers Council (?) and negotiate our Redundacy - anyone any ideas or experiences ?

About 7 of us have less than 2 years* while the other three have about average 6-7 years and we're collectively bargaining i.e. we will bnegotiate together rather than individually. (The company were good payers of redundancy in the past, if this helps as a precedent set?)

*so not being entitled to anything.

After the deluge in responses to my last mail, i hope this garners something!

If I don't have to work out my redundancy notice, and can stay at home and earn my money, can I leave and take a job elsewhere, and, still be entitled to any redundancy payout negotiated on my behalf?
