Negative head pump

Hi,

Can somebody please explain the difference between Single Head negative shower pump and a dual head negative shower pump?

Single impeller is just one pipe into pump , the water is usually mixed (hot and cold) before pump.

Twin impeller, two pipes entering pump, normally hot and cold, it is then mixed after pump, shower unit etc.

Reason I asked was I am getting Ensuite in Attic and was wondering what the best type pump would be. Would you recomend the Dual head for an Ensuite?

yes, it will pump both hot and cold water to ensuite. They are expensive as you are probably aware. Incase you don't know:

Negative head refers to where the pump is getting it's stored source from. If the water source is below the pump, the pump is under negative pressure and has to "suck" the water up.

Positive head is when the water source is above pump and the pump "pushs" the water out.

Yeah they are expensive. Seen them online for a good bit cheaper than hardware supply shops. Stuart Turner 3 bar negative head dual are about €500 incl delivery.

By far the best pump on the market in my experiance, you should have years of service from it.

Would you belive I took a Stuart Turner pump of a very old system that hadn't worked in 3 years. With a can of WD 40 and a screw driver, the old pump was purring like it was brand new. well built.
