Negative equity and cutting your losses

Is it common for people in negative equity to just cut their losses? Say for example they don't plan on living in Ireland in the future?

Depends on what you mean by cutting their losses. If you mean sell up jump ship and run never to return, that's one story. If you plan an orderly exit that's another. People take all sorts of routes in life including swallowing bitter XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. The choice you make will be based on your own unique circumstances. However never say never you may not plan now to return to Ireland, but who is to say what your future circumstances will hold.

We have had cases on AAM of people jumping ship and leaving their debt behind.
