In june of this year my contract of employment ended and i went to my local welfare office to apply for jobseekers benefit but i do not have enough prsi payments from 2006/2007 (only missing 10 payments) to qualify. In 2006 i lived in spain but worked all through 2004&2005. In 2007 I applied for jobseekers benefit/illness benefit but was refused payment from welfare as i was living at home and under 24. I was out of work for 3 months and recieving no payment from welfare but was unaware and not told of the prsi stamps that i could of got even if no payment was granted. I am now married with 1 child and solely living off my husbands salary of 30K but have had to move out of our rented house as we cant afford it with no payments from welfare. We have been forsed to move into my mums house and living in 1 bedroom for the 3 of us and still finding money very difficult. I was told that i will be means tested for jobseekers allowance but now that im living with my mum and 23 her income and my husbands will probably be assessed???? My mum only earns 18k a year and has to provide for my brother, my dad passed away in february of this year and my husbands income solely is going to pay off over 20k in debts. I genuinely want to work and not have to claim any benefits and have been actively seeking work but no luck at the moment. Can you please just tell me is there anything that i am entitled to in my situation because by the looks of it we would be entitled to alot more money and more well-off if my husband just quit his job?
