Need advice on loss of deeds by solicitor and dealing with neighbours from hell.

Hi, we have a semi-d and had a blissful existence for 10 years or so until lowlife scum bought next door.
Can't rent or sell it because they harass anybody who looks at it.
They are not approachable and have a criminal record.
We had to move out for safety reasons and we are renting.
Financially it's a pain and stops us having a home. Another thing is that the title deeds can't be found. Our solicitor went bust and the solicitor in charge is struggling to find them, even though they say they know the office they are in, but its not in alphabetical order! this is going on since May.
I guess any advise would be great, I've hit a wall on this one!
Would the banks be willing to do an interest only for an year or something so that we could build. We can't do mortgage + mortgage 2 + rent, but we may be able to do x2 mortgages as we didn't buy in the boom and we are both working.

Law are heavily envolved with this family, serious waste of taxpayers money and are very good to be fair. Unfortunatly they can't do anything, they keep telling us to document everything, not to approach them etc. HSE have been contacted about unsupervised kids, social housing won't touch it because of who lives next door etc.etc. They have zero respect for anyone including Gardai.
Thanks for your good wishes but I can't see a solution any time soon!

Sorry to hear of this horrific situation.

Would the [broken link removed] be able to speed up the recovery of the lost deeds? May is a long time back Not sure if the last post in this thread may give some advice.

You don't seem to need the title for anything at present which is good. But from May to now is quite a while to be waiting.

When you say your solicitor went 'bust', what do you mean? Was their practice taken over by the law society? If so, they often appoint a firm to go through the files and put them in order and then you are supposed to appoint a new solicitor who then takes up the file from the law society. The new solicitor assesses whether any work is needed, a claim needs to be made on the compensation fund and so on.

As Sue Ellen pointed out, mainly title deeds are a thing of the past. Now you may be one of the few remaining Registry of Deeds properties, and if so its a different procedure. But if you are land registry, then a copy of your title can be obtained at any time from the Property Registration Authority. You would need to reconstitute certain things, like certs of compliance with planning, BER certs etc. Any solicitor would be able to discern what type of title you have and what you need.

Hi thanks for reply's sorry haven't been on here for a while.
He was suspended. He jumped to a few different companies before that, I don't know why he was suspended.
I asked my solicitor to request the files from the solicitors who are supposed to have them, they didn't reply.
I have been ringing them since and nothing. They claim that they are not responsible. I threatened to make a complaint and they said they would sue me! nice eh
Law society is currently involved.
Just what I need, what a year!
