Car (Focus) failed NCT on cracked front fog lens. Since fog lights are only tested if they are present, and I know they can be removed on this model, will I pass the retest if I remove the fog lights?

Assuming you are talking about front fogs, I doubt they will look. As I had one in, and one out for my NCT. I remember the previous NCT on the car, there was a bulb blown and the car passed.

If it the rear, then you'll need further comments.

Thanks, I'm talking about a retest though. I failed on the front fogs as they were defective and this is what they will be specifically retesting.

Fogs are only tested where they are present, however, in this case of a retest I'm not sure if I can remove them.

Might be as easy to fix them.

Seems stupid to fail you on something that may not even be present.

Against I know the micra front fogs were a pain for high beams.

Yeah, would be easy to fix, just needs new lights which I could insert myself. Just a cracked lens but the lens can't be bought seperately, it's a full unit. Just wondering if removing them for the retest might save me a few quid

I would have thought yes.

You get rid of the faulty item then fault no longer exists.

Mind you common sense doesn't always go with state testing.

As much as lack irish county name on number plates was a fail.

One of the biggest unknown safety problems out there for years.
