Great news to see that the National Garden Exhibition Centre in Kilquade,Co Wicklow has been bought by new people and has been saved from being permanent closeure.

It opened back up to the public yesterday, and the garden centre and bistro cafe are open to the public aswell.....(fried breakfast is lovely here).:D

Fantastic news to hear and see.:)

I have been to this place a good few times with my wife and children and I can highly recommend it as a nice day out for the family, especially if you are into garden design and getting gardening ideas. The exhibition gardens are a fantastic sight to see and walk through.

+1 Also delighted to see it re-open and yes, the breakfast is yummy, particularly the sausages which I understand come from C J O'Loughlin. :)

Yep,they try to source all their produce locally, which great for the local economy and the food is oh so yummy too.:D
Might take a trip down there tomorrow actually and then visit Mount Usher Gardens further on down the road in Ashford,Co Wicklow.Again another fantastic place to visit and stroll around.:)

The National Garden Exhibition Centre phone lines are disconnected at the moment but I was on to "Outdoor Living" down there earlier on this morning, and the lady there said that the new owners will be geting the phone lines reconnected early next week (hopefully).
She was telling me that the actual garden centre part has been scaled down a bit size wize, theres not as many plants or sheds or pots for sale anymore, but there is still a good selection to choose from.

But its business as usual and the place is back open to the public.Im delighted and I wish the new owners every succcess in the world too.:)

I took a trip back down to the National Garden Exhibition Centre today with my family.

We are delighted to see it open again and it was very busy there today, lots of families down there enjoying the food and the gardens.

The garden centre itself is smaller in size with alot of the features like ponds and pond pumps no longer on sale.Gone too are the large garden sheds and childrens wooden swings and playhouses that were on sale previously.
The garden bistro cafe is now run by a lovely Swiss couple, and the chef is also a landscape designer too.
We had a nice chat with him and his wife as we were being served the most amazing home made beef cassarole today.

The display gardens are all still there but they are a lacking a little in appearance due to the fact that theres only a skeleton staff now being employed there.
But never the less, its still great to wander through them all and enjoy each garden and each gardens overall beauty.

We bought some plants and bulbs on the way back to the carpark.

Looking forward to going back down at Christmas time when everything is decking out in lights and festive decorations.
