Hello all, I recently received correspondence from Nat West markets in Dublin regarding fixed term (1 or 2 years) savings rates of 4.4% p/a, covered by the banking deposit scheme Up to 100k. Thing is, I didn’t contact them directly but via a couple of comparison sites and I’m just trying to make sure that they are legitimate. I do see an address for them in Dublin on line, but no website as such, just contact through an advisor by phone / email. I’m a tiny bit suspicious, how does one ensure such things are legitimate.
sorry for the silly question and thanks.
Investment scams can be hard to spot. Criminals often contact people via phone, email or text, or online. NatWest Business can help you keep your business safe.
I contacted Nat West in the UK and they have confirmed a number of red flags, i.e., “NatWest Markets plc offers capital markets solutions to our NatWest’s commercial and institutional clients, not customer savings products. Our representatives would never contact customers via Whats App and there is no natwestmarkets.ie web domain”
So indeed a scam, I have updated the title.
However, if you have any evidence of scams based in Ireland, then report it to the Gardaí or https://www.fraudsmart.ie/alerts/ and I would say that they would take action.
