If a person takes out a motor insurance policy, and they put you down as a named driver - if they have an accident and claim on the policy, will my NCB be affected.

For the record I have my own car and full ncb I am driving 15 years. I will be going onto somebody else's policy who lives in my house as the policy is cheaper for them.
I am pretty sure it is not affected but just starting to have that moment of doubt!

I think you are referring to is referencing dual indemnity and there are others who are very knowledgable on the subject if you do a search here. It is only relevant if you crash the car and there is liability under 2 insurers and I think while costs may be shared it is only 1 policy that would have NCB effected.

In terms of being a name driver on a policy I cannot see how the policy holder having an accident would in any way or shape effect your NCB held on your own policy in your own name.

What you are suggesting would not impact your policy if they have an accident.

That shouldn't affect you. If they were a named driver on your policy you would need to inform your insurers though.

I have my husband on my policy. This is my tenant, they have taken out a policy in their name and put me down as the named driver to get some discount as this is their first time being insured in Ireland, they hold full Pakistan licence and are now starting lessons to get Irish licence.
