Name Change After Marriage

I got married last October and still haven't received a copy of my marriage cert.
Just wondering is it meant to take this long or do I have to request it from somewhere - just looking into changing my name!

You don't need to change your name on marriage just as you don't need a marriage cert to change your name! See this thread:

You need to request your marriage cert from the General Registrars office:
http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm

You can then use the cert to change your name with your bank, local authority(driving license) etc. if you would like to change it.

I have only half done this. The only place where I did not have to send a marriage cert to was my boi credit card. My bank accounts, drivers licencs etc need a marraige cert. Also it usually has to be the original rather than a copy but they are only a few € each anyway. As time went on I got lazier about changing my name, it doesn't bother me.

I don't think it is as simple as changing your name to Irish, you really have to give your cert to immediately change over, so I was told anyway.

Best of luck, hope you never get divorced, then do you have to change them all back again with your divorce decree?
