N26 Launch Savings Account Paying 1.70% to 3.00% less fees

Does anyone know if I will lose my dedicated IBAN for the savings account if I downgrade to the free package.

I have an IBAN for my primary N26 account, but also for the savings account. I have money paid directly into the IBAN for the savings account and I have direct debits that come directly from the savings account IBAN. I'd rather not re-change all the IBANS for all that!

You shouldn’t - I have only ever used the free standard plan, and my savings account has a dedicated IBAN that I can transfer into from BOI (but not out of).

Thanks for confirming. I appreciate it!

Yeah, it's a bit annoying you can't directly transfer out of it.

Fyi you can setup direct debits (e.g. bills) that pull out from it directly.

I also have rules that move money from savings to current account, and then another one that transfer on to other accounts

Thanks - that's good to know. I like to keep the majority of my N26 money in there, and only have a couple of hundred in the main spending account, linked to the card.

For spaces other than the savings account, I think you will lose IBANs for those - or at least with a free account, you can't create spaces with an IBAN - so presume you lose that ability if you downgrade.

Has anyone being successful with a pro-rata refund of the annual metal fee?
Just cancelled the metal account had 1 year membership, cancelling as the headline 4% dropped to 3% and can get better rate elsewhere for free.

Will receive 42.72 euro back but have to pay a tenner for a new standard card (despite having my old standard card).

Glad I did as it was annoying me.

I received a metal card and activated it, presumably this had the effect of cancelling the old standard card.

I did ask the N26 rep if my old card could now be used and she replied that I needed to order a new standard card.

@Knuttell how long did it take for standard card to arrive. I cancelled metal yesterday or at least started the procedure. Still waiting for N26 to confirm before I can order a new standard. The metal cards took 20 to 25 days to arrive, and then we're locked.

Thats very odd. I received a Charcoal Black card when I upgraded to Metal in April this year. I have used that and also my original standard "Transparent" card interchangeably since, both for ATM and Debit transaction. Both are still showing active today on my account.

The metal card arrived within a week of ordering. The original transparent card took around 2 months.

Same original card still works fine. Curious what folks are using instead of Metal now. Revolut?

That's interesting, will give old card a go tomorrow. Rep I spoke to may be misinformed as I pointedly asked that exact question and said a new one was required.

Save me a tenner if it works

Still waiting for them to refund the membership pro rata amt.

...and I'm still waiting for the team to downgrade account from metal to free. Oct 22 made request and have asked through app numerous times to check on progress.
...also when I moved to metal, N26 deactivated the transparent free card. Then it took 9 weeks for the Metal Card to arrive.
Made a complaint about this in September and still waiting to hear back.

Your post raised a doubt in my mind. As luck would have it I had to make a half yearly visit to an ATM today. Withdrew half the money I wanted using the Metal card, and the other half using the transparent card. Both worked seamlessly (once I re-enabled the Transparent card - I had locked it as a security measure).

Tried the old standard N26 card, it went through all the steps except wouldn't give me the money, tried twice.

Used metal card to take out 50 primarily so the queue behind me wouldn't think I'd not got a proverbial pot.

As a matter of interest, have you checked the standard card in your N26 App ? Is it still there ? Locked ? Are ATM transactions enabled ? There are quite a few settings for each card.
