Hello..

I just got my wife a second-hand car its a uk reg VRT paid (no road tax).

To cut a long story short she doesn't like it....so am i entitled to sell it on as the VRT is paid??

Yes, I think you are correct on that point, you only get the VRC after you tax the car for the first time.

You are more than likely entitled to sell the car, but without (sight of) a VRC, I'm not sure if there would be anyone willing to buy it?

And you were told that if you had paid the VRT then you would already have a RF101 and that your reg wouldn't be uk anymore it would of got changed over to an irish reg.
 
but can the buyer tax it??


yes there is a system for this, but if i turned up to buy a second hand car and the owner hadnt even got the VLC, then i would be walking away very quickly!

plus the 3 months tax might sweeten the deal for the sale.
