Adrian I want to post something on your page if that's okay. It is a poem written by my 12yr old daughter after she heard of that young girl's death in Leitrim last week. It addresses the sensitive issues of bullying and suicide.
To say I am a proud mum at the moment is an understatement. You have kids so I hope some of this will ring true with you as a parent. Thanks Adrian. xxxx
WORDS HURT.
It would be a whole different thing if it was you,
People dreading to turn up to school,
The bulling,smirks,the dirty looks,
The tripping,chasing,dropping your books.
The words kill the victim just as much inside
The always get picked on, about things they can't try,
'You can't do maths? are you physically thick?,You're terrible at English? You deserve a kick!'
Their voices don't shake, their hearts are cold,
Why do they pick on the kids with a heart of gold?
We're supposed to be a community what does it take?!
For people to be sorry,to pay for their mistakes?
Have you seen how people get fed-up?
Because people don't shut up?
They take their own lives thinking it's the only way out,
But they have no idea how much it's talked about.
Their parents cry a little more each day,
'God only takes the best' is what they always say,
What would you do if you were the cause of their pain?
You wouldn't pretend it wasn't you, You'd go crazy,out of your mind,Insane.
Why would you want to bully anyone in anyways?
Their life was perfect, that people were amazed!
They were happy before You came along+gave them hassle,
Now they are forever, and always in Gods castle.
Their friends miss them deeply they'll make the bully pay,
And more revenge grows inside of them, more+more each-day,
Think of it before you bully someone and make their life hell,
Because they might end it, and people will want you gone as well.
