My rights re faulty online purchase?

Last March I bought an electronic pet feeder from a UK online company's website for €60 - that included €20 for delivery. It worked fine at first. Then a couple of weeks ago the feeding delivery became erratic and now it barely works at all - no use to our two cats. (It's particularly inconvenient that we're about to go on holiday - which is mainly what we wanted it for in the first place.)

I've tried ringing their number but the phone gives a continuous engaged tone. I've emailed twice but received no response. I see on their website that they don't actually stock this item any more.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Any ideas about further steps to take? Or should I cut my losses and buy another?
