Hi
We are putting down an Engineered American Walnut flooring in 2 rooms, on a new concrete floor in one room and over an old wood floor in second room. We waited to put down flooring as instructed by floor company and had the wood stored in room to acclimatise. We also bought good insulation which is foil backed (and quite expensive). The flooring company estimated 4 rolls would be plenty for both rooms.
The problem is there was a slight slope in the new concrete floor and it seems the carpenter started to use the insulation to level the floor!! it looks like he put 4 layers in sloped area and 3 layers elsewhere, (there should only be 1 layer used). The result is that he used all the insulation in just 1 room. The floor looks great but my biggest worry is the floor bounces slightly when walked on (some areas more noticeable than others), it is obvious if you watch someone walk across it. I'm concerned that this will lead to problems when the layers of insulation settle down im afraid the areas where the sofa / heavy furniture are will weigh down the boards (and compres the insulation more) in those areas more than the other areas and the result being the floors will start sinking slightly & cracking apart. Our carpenter still has to put down floor in 2nd room so I need to know if its a problem before i let him start
Anyone have any similar experience or advice as I want to know if I'm just overly worried
