I have sky ( including sports channels etc) in sitting room which I want to keep. I have another multi room box in bedroom and have all the stations same as downstairs there too. I really only want rte,tv3 etc upstairs and want to get rid of the multi room box and the €15 monthly charge. If I do cancel it will I get the rte etc channels through the ntl box which was in the house when we bought it. Does anybody know what connection I need to go from the ntl box to the tv to get these channels and if this is possible?

NTL normally has the analogue signal available at the junction box, which will give you these stations. You'd need a normal coaxial cable run from the NTL junction box to the upstairs. The existing cable that links the NTL junction box to your multi-room box upstairs will probably work. However, I'm not sure if they will continue to provide this signal into the future. given the planned switchover from analogue to digital in 2012.
