Trying to find a docking station for a Philips Go Gear Raga mp3 player http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9238701/Trail/searchtext%3EPHILLIPS+RAGA.htm.

All the docking stations (like this http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5240308/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/3%7C23716134%7CiPod+and+MP3+accessories%7C14419709/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419709%7CiPod+docking+stations+and+speakers%7C14419710.htm) I've seen say compatible with devices with a 3.5mm jack.

The Phillips Raga MP3 player says it has a 2.0 USB port.

Does anyone know if that means the speakers/dockig station would work with this player?

Thanks

A 3.5mm jack is most commonly found on headphones. A USB port is completely different.

A docking station with a 3.5mm jack suggests you plug it into your player like you would plug your headphones into your player. Other docking stations, such as those for iPODs, could have a dedicated port (not 3.5mm & not USB).

Based on price alone, I think that the audio quality of those speakers is likely to be poor, i.e. you get what you pay for.

Thanks, you mean you need a lead from the speakers to the player?

So the speakers I showed http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5240308/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/3%7C23716134%7CiPod+and+MP3+accessories%7C14419709/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419709%7CiPod+docking+stations+and+speakers%7C14419710.htm would be compatible with this MP3 then http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9238701/Trail/searchtext%3EPHILLIPS+RAGA.htm#tabrevwith the right lead, do you think?

Thanks

As Tarfhead has said, a 3.5mm jack and a USB port are completely different things, but your MP3 player must have a 3.5mm connection, as this is universal. I have never heard of an MP£ player without a 3.5mm jack for headphones.

It is the bit where the headphones plug in.

So yes, a docking station with a 3.5mm connection will work with your MP3 player,

Yes - it would appear that you need a lead with 3.5mm (male) connections at both ends.
