Hi,

It's been a while since I was in teh market for a MP3 player (my brother's birthday) and I don't really know what's out there. I know he doesn't want an iPod, but are companies like Creative still making decent products? If so, which ones? He really just wants one that plays music, doesn't need to be touch screen, or a 5" coulour screen etc. Price range: depends on what it's buying! €150 maybe!

Thanks,

K

Most into that price rang are going to be aiming at the all singing all dancing market, the video and gaming as well as music. Ones for just music are usually the cheaper end.

Going against his wishes, the iPod Nano's not a bad bit of kit, it does what it does well. Has some fancy features, but the latest one has radio as well as camera.

However, it's been stated on here before, you really won't go wrong with the Sansa range, from their entry models up they're a great price and great little gadgets. I'd personally go for a Sansa over Creative or other brand.

I too am a fan of the Sanza range. The Clip is a very good product.
Its small and robust, easy to use, good sound, FM radio, all for well under €100.

I'd third the Sansa Clip, there may be some last generation ones still available, I got 2 in Harvey Normans just after Christmas for €38 each, the sound is very good, doesn't bother with video and has a good radio too, and it's so light and easy to use. There are still some available on ebay.

Thanks for the Sansa advice. Personally, I use one, and find them quite good for what they are (i.e. a giant memory stick). Used to own a Rio MP3 player, have yet to find one as useful since they went bust.

Not particularly fond of the Creatives or Sony's, can't stand apple products, so may end up going for the sansa.

Thanks guys

Thanks for the thoroughly useless reply. So useles in fact I didn't even click on it.

Well, if you didn't click on the link, then how did you know it was useless :p ?

It should have landed you at a page offering a MP3 player with the functionality and at the price range, you specified .

SANSA has a good reputation for delivering 'bang for buck'.

If 4GB is enough, you could have [broken link removed] for £20.99 delivered.

Otherwise, here's the [broken link removed]. Takes a microSD card, if you want to add more capacity.
