Not sure if this is the right section as the query crosses a few boundaries.
I am getting the house externally insulated and the installer has asked that the bunch of wires and cables that are coming on to the gable from the next house across the passage be removed. Most of them are very old telephone cables pre Eircom days and they will all be going as I have just sacked Eircom but the UPC cable might be trickier. It is strung across the passage and supported with a steel cable which in turn is fixed to my gable and the signal cable then feeds away. Can the steel cable be fixed instead to my chimney or would it be dangerous to have it pulling on the chimney especially maybe in high winds?A silly question ?
