Moving to Retirement home and about to rent family home: Where to get advice?

My parents are moving to their retirement home soon and are thinking of renting out the family home. They want to speak with someone to decide the best way to go about this. Should they speak with a financial consultant/tax consultant? Not looking for names or anything, just who they should be speaking to. Any advice would be useful, thanks.

Re: Who to contact

A well recommended chartered accountant would probably be their best bet

Re: Who to contact

A chartered accountant is hardly going to find them a reliable tenant,
very strange advice.

Re: Who to contact

It all depends on what type of advice they require. If it is specifically taxation advice or asset 'rejigging' then the accountant may be the route to go.

If it is for letting agent, tenant locator, management of the rented house, then the accountant is probably as useful as a bikini bottom on a man.

It is also important that they have valid Wills made up and again, from experience the acountant would be the worst way to go. That should be the sole function of a competant solicitor.

You should be more specific as to the advice that is required.

Re: Who to contact

They are thinking of retaining the "family" home and renting out part of/all of it when they move to the retirement home. There are a few good letting agents in the area so that part is covered. Its more the re-jigging of assets that they are looking to talk to someone about and/or more tax efficient way of doing it. From the sounds of it the chartered accountant is the way to go. Thanks for the replies.
