Moving to London - Ship Possessions or Hire Van

Has anyone any experience of this - a family member is moving to London and is looking into the best way of moving her possession across. Her company will pay for any expenses incurred. Shipping takes 14 days. The other alternative is to hire a van in Ireland, load up all items and get the ferry across. The benefit of this is that the van can then be collected from her new accommodation in London.

if her co is paying then i would pay a co who specialise in moving furniture etc so if anything breaks etc then she should be covered by insurance plus it will be delivered directly to her door

She doesn't have a whole lot to move - she has been renting for the last couple of years so no furniture. The biggest items involved are a wide screen tv, a couple of computers and then the usual things.

Get a courier to ship it on freight not on air as vast difference in cost Its normally priced at size of cartons Check out a few companies,Got 2 cartons from Manchester last week Cost £35st, but got quotes up to €175 for same job, but took 2 days for dilivery.

I used FGL Fraight, Droylsden, in manchester but I had to arrange their payment on collection, also gets stuff over with European Cargo systems,
Payment is the problem over there , but if you try some of the Couriers here they may arrange it from here a lot easier

O by the way make sure its going by boat fraight and not fly fraight if you want to save money
