Hi
I just came off a fixed rate mortgage with Ulsterbank, and am now on the variable rate of 3.85%. This is about 2% higher than AIB, so I am moving my mortgage there, and going to fix it for 2 years.
A solictor I dealt with previously has quoted me 900 euro for everything.
The bank say I should be able to get it all done for about 700 euro.
So, can anybody advise me of any reputable solictors in Cork who will do it for this price ?
Thanks.

Your bank are wrong; If you google for solicitors who advertise cheap re-mortgage work, you will see that the bottom of the market is around €450+VAT+outlay.

The €450 + VAT comes to €546.75.

The outlay will normally include:

1. Land Registry fee on new mortgage €125
2. copy folio €25
3. search fees approx. €75
4. pay old bank for deeds( approx) €35
5. pay old bank to seal a discharge ( approx) €35
6. pay Land Registry fee on discharge €25
7. Commissioners fees on FHPA declaration €10\€20

So the total there is ( approx) €546.75 plus €330 for a total of €876.75.

To get it at around €700 all-in, you need to find a solicitor charging a fee of around €300. I don't think this represents the reality of the market.

Ok thanks, maybe I misunderstood the woman in the bank, although I don't think so.
I've got a quote of 900 euro for everything, so it doesn't look like I'll get much better than that.
