Moving from Public sector to Voluntary sector

I am currently working in the public sector but have been offered a position in the voluntary sector. The role is a higher grade and more suited to my skills ad better paid. Has anyone here done something similar? I have may 12 years left before retirement adonly a couple of years worked in public sector so I'm not worried about losing out on a big pension or anything. I just wanted opinions or advice from people working in this sector or who moved like I am considering.

Voluntary sector may not be fully state funded. Rates of pay on a similar scale may but be as high as the highest point in the salary might not be possible with an equivalent position. It might also be a springboard to getting another public sector job or voluntary job at the same or higher level with new skills. If it’s your ideal job and you are not tied to the public sector then it maybe more satisfying for you. Just research the organisation, its funding, your boss.
